V-Rings

Rubber V-Rings for shafts requiring a dynamic seal (primary or back-up) in the axial direction. The body of V seals rotates with the shaft and holds itself in position by its elastic fit on the shaft. Sealing is produced by the contact between the lip and the counterface. Additionally, the V Series rings have good sealing action when the shaft is eccentric and/or there is some misalignment. Combined with radial shaft seals, these axial face seal designs provide excellent excluding characteristics against all types of liquids, greases, oils, dirt, and other foreign materials. V-Rings are available in both Buna N and Viton.

V-rings are versatile seals that can be used to retain grease lubricants, but with proper surface preparation, they can also run dry with minimal torque loss and a long service life. Due to their high elasticity, smaller V-rings can stretch up to 2.5 times their original diameter, allowing them to be easily installed on shafts without requiring disassembly of the unit, even over flanges, pillow blocks, or other components. A single V-ring size can fit multiple shaft diameters, both in English and metric units, and can accommodate various media across a broad temperature range from -40°F to 392°F, depending on the material selected.
